Red snapper is the summer headliner on the longer trips: the 2026 Gulf federal for-hire season runs June 1 to October 26, and Florida’s private recreational season runs May 22 to July 31 with a September 1 fall reopening. Gag grouper is tightly limited this year, with Gulf state waters open only September 1 to 14 and federal waters September 1 to October 1, so red grouper carries the bottom fishing the rest of the year. Mangrove and vermilion snapper and hogfish are open year round, greater amberjack is closed for the whole 2026 season, and king mackerel run the nearshore in spring and fall.

Madeira Beach fishes two ways, and the price gap is wide. A walk-on seat on the Hubbard’s party boat is the cheap way out: $84.95 per person for a 5 hour half day, sold per person with the rod, bait, and license included and cleaning extra. If you want a long-range or overnight trip, Hubbard’s is the only operator that runs them. For your own boat and captain, book a private charter and match the trip to the season: a half day for a quick grouper and snapper box, a full day or a deep-drop trip for the better ground and red snapper in summer.
